Overall project Solar was pretty good but there could be some improvements before I’d suggest it to anyone.I did the full service install option.Overview:Project Solar is priced well, but lack good models for sizing Solar systems to you needs. Their installers that they picked did good work, are priced well, but can be slow and communicated poorly.I would use Project solar again but as a DIY. It took about 3 full months from start to finish, but could have been at least in half that time.Details:PS( project solar) have competitive pricing which made it feasible to get solar panels put up in the first place. If i had not found PS i might not have purchased any.I appreciated their online estimator that allowed me to at least get an idea on what would be involved with a solar system, and i appreciate that they are open with their pricing and breakdown, which i can’t say for most of the other solar companies i got quotes from. The onboarding was super quick from initial deposit, but their Solar estimation for sizing a system was not good and didn’t take into account Utah’s schedule 137 metering rules. When i asked about margins and the metering schedule they seemed unaware of what I was talking about. Luckily i was able to engineer the system size myself. Sadly, i had to argue with the onboarding specialist about the size of system that i wanted, which took about 2-3 weeks and a call from my local power company to assure them the size (10kw) was allowed. FYI (25kw is max). The engineering and building permits went fairly smooth. The installation was done well as far as quality. The installer (spring solar) was technically a separate contract, but at project solar’s suggestion. The coordination between them and project solar was so poor I had to call and schedule it directly with the installer. Also the installer communication I found was poor. I found out about 3 separate schedule delays by contacting them when they didn’t show on the day of install. I suggest that project solar both get a better installation scheduling system and re-examine their use of this installer until a remedy for communication of install dates is established. Looking back I would have paid a bit more for an installer with better communication.

The process was very straightforward. Easy to complete DIY install. My only complaint would be the delays during permitting and utility approval. I would have preferred more communications during the delays to make me feel more comfortable. Also it would have been nice to allow me to access the project status with the utility company. Otherwise I'm very happy. The equipment is top-of-the-line.

For some reason my previous review was erased, but I liked them for 3 reasons.1) Price. They passed down an industry leading price to the customer. Local costs were $15,000 more, so it was either Project Solar or Tesla. I wanted Enphase equipment, and I could actually get on the phone with my project manager at anytime, so it was an easy decision.2) Customization. Local companies kept quoting me these tiny systems saying it would offset my electricity by 100%. But solar panels degrade, and usage is only going up. My project manager was fine with me increasing the size from the initial design and choosing panel location as well (they still ran software to ensure it was ideal production). They also let me speak to an engineer to ensure all loads I wanted to be backed up could be covered by the batteries. That level of communication was non-existent with local companies, as I could only communicate with reps that knew little about the system details.3) While there were some delays and issues, they always resolved them. So far no issues with the system, and my whole house switched over to the batteries during the storm power outages as expected.
